Directions Basic Cooking: 1 cup Village Harvest Basmati Rice, 2-1/2 cups water, 1 tbsp oil, 1/4 tsp salt (optional). On the Stove: Rinse rice in cold water to remove excess starch. Combine rice, water, oil and salt in a heavy saucepan. Allow mixture to rest for 15 minutes Bring mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low setting, cover with tight fitting lid and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Fluff with fork and serve. In The Microwave: Rinse rice in cold water to remove excess starch. Combine rice, 2 cups water, oil and salt in a microwave safe casserole dish and cover. Allow mixture to rest for 15 minutes. Microwave at high setting for 10 minutes, remove cover and stir. Cover and microwave at defrost setting for an additional 10 minutes. Fluff with fork and serve.
