A savory blend of wheat and tofu, our roast is filled with a flavorful wild rice and bread crumb stuffing, ready to be basted, roasted, carved and devoured by the whole pose. Over the years we've sliced a lot our roasts. We've discovered the best way to carve your roast is with a serrated bread knife in thin slices. If you have leftovers, you're all set for sandwiches too! If you do something twice in a row, it's officially a tradition. Directions Roast Prep Instructions: Thaw in the refrigerator for 24 hours before cooking. With a knife or scissors carefully remove plastic casing and clips from the roast. Place on a pan in aluminum foil, or in a lidded casserole dish. Surround the roast with vegetables, if you wish. Pour half of the baste of your choice, over the roast. Wrap or cover tightly. Cook in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Uncover and pour remaining baste over roast. Return to oven and cook uncovered for 10 more minutes. If you forgot to that in roast, follow some instructions but cook for 2 hours and 20 minutes plus 15 minutes uncovered. Do not thaw or cook in the microwave. Cook thoroughly to a temperature of 165 degrees F. Do not eat frozen or uncooked. Great Options for Baste; Whisk these ingredients together to baste before roasting. 3 T. Olive oil (or other vegetable oil), 1 T. Soy sauce, 1-1/2 t. fresh or ground sage (optional). Tofurky also gets along great with things like veggie broth, minced garlic, a dash of red wine or herbs like thyme or marjoram. Keep frozen.
